April 2025
X Launches Video Tab, Meta Ditches Fact-Checking, and Threads Tests Ads
Allow us to be the first to wish you a happy 2025… in April! We're excited to share with you our first quarterly social media update of the year — we've witnessed some notable changes throughout Q1, which we dive into below.

- In the U.S., X launched a dedicated video tab as it endeavors to become a video-first platform
- As another step toward that goal, X now allows you to react to a post with a video

- Taking a page from X's book, Meta is getting rid of fact-checking and switching to Community Notes
- Instagram officially expanded the length of Reels to three minutes, though the platform still prefers short-form, punchy content
- Instagram updated its profile grid with vertically-aligned thumbnails, though they continue to A/B test; rumors suggest they may change where Highlights go and give users the ability to switch back to a 1:1 grid
- Threads has reached 320M monthly users and is beginning to test ads

- YouTube reached 1B monthly podcast listeners
